The Daniel Plan
The Daniel Plan essentials are: Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends. The Goal of the Daniel Plan Lifestyle is “better health and wellness the way God intended us to live”. Our program will be supported by Center for Functional Medicine at The Cleveland Clinic. Before we start the journey the Cleveland Clinic will provide screenings (at no charge) including Height, Weight, BMI, Lipid Panel, and A1C; this same screening will be offered at the end of the program.
The program is designed to support each other by meeting in small groups at many different times for the six week period and following the challenge to a Healthier Life. This plan has an impressive success rate; “during the first year of The Daniel Plan, over 15,000 people from 190 countries participated. The results were life-changing – collectively those who participated lost over 250,000 pounds, improved their health, increased their energy, started sleeping better, and reduced their need for medication”. Closer to home two Rocky River churches offered the program, with 200+ participants, also with impressive results.
What is the Daniel Plan?
The Daniel Plan is a spiritually-based wellness program, designed to help you feel healthier.
How does it work?
Attend the kickoff event in the sanctuary on Tuesday, January 16. Daniel Plan dietitians and health coaches will provide tips on prepping, planning and remaining successful throughout the 6-week journey and beyond.
Attend the biometric screening in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, January 20 (you will be assigned a time.) You will be provided with a baseline of your body measurements and calculations (including cholesterol, body fat percentage glucose and blood pressure).
Meet weekly with your small group for six weeks. Each session will take about 90 minutes and will include watching a Daniel Plan DVD and group discussion.
At the end of the six weeks, we will have another biometric screening and follow-up.
How much does it cost?
The Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine provides each participant with a free Daniel Plan study guide and resource folder (recipes, dining out guide, grocery shopping and fitness tips.) So it’s free!
Along the way, you’ll learn about faith, food, fitness, focus, and friends…and there will be a few surprise extra events!
